CONSTRUCTION
IS NO PLACE
FOR WOMEN
Construction is definitely for women. But here's the deal: Many young women aren't aware of the opportunities out there. We're changing that by sharing inspiring career stories on our page.

And hey, forget those outdated stereotypes! The industry has evolved. It's safe and rewarding for all. Trust us, construction is where it's at, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
I'LL BE
SURROUNDED
BY MEN
While it's true that construction has been male-dominated, the times, they are a-changin'. We're currently sitting at 12% of women in the industry, with only 2% in on-site roles (yeah, it's a work in progress).

But here's the good news: You'll find an incredible support system and form lifelong friendships with other incredible women in construction. We're here to empower and uplift you every step of the way.
CONSTRUCTION
SITES ARE NOT
VERY SAFE
Construction sites are actually way safer and more exciting than you might think. We've heard stories from lots of amazing women who initially had doubts, but ended up falling in love with being on site.

Why? Because it's where their projects come to life and they get to learn all the ins and outs of building. Plus, most building companies have strict policies in place to ensure safety and proper behavior on site.
LACK OF POLICIES
AND BENEFITS
FOR WOMEN
Construction is getting up to speed with other industries, with builders like Laing O'Rourke offering 6 months paid parental leave. Industry bodies like NAWIC and Champions of Change lead policy benchmarking to ensure our industry is becoming more and more inclusive.
CONSTRUCTION
IS A LOW
PAYING JOB
Construction pays!
For example, electricians in NSW earn $85,746, carpenters earn $99,241, architects earn $97,459, and structural engineers earn $111,108 on average. In comparison, the average annual salary for a nurse is $65,204 and for a teacher is $67,979.
I WILL NEED
TO BE ON SITE
ALL THE TIME
Construction careers go way beyond being on-site all the time. Most of us are only out there once a week or less - think architects, engineers or legal. Unless you’re in a trade (e.g. carpentry), you will not be doing any physical work when you do go to site – just inspecting progress of the build.

next
step?
