the inside scoop…

What does a Design Coordinator actually do?
My job is to manage the consultants in coordinating the design of the building through to a level of documentation that enables it to be built.

What does a day in your life at work look like?
Reviewing drawings, workshops with consultants to find solutions to problems, keeping track of decisions made through registers and meeting minutes, reviewing programming to ensure design is progressing on time to meet construction deadlines.

What's the best part of your job?
Reviewing drawings and 3D models and getting to work onsite every day and see the drawings turned into real buildings.

What made you realise construction could be for you?
Always loved looking at plans and building houses in the Sims!

What are you excited about doing in the future, working in construction?
Very short term goal - being able to drive past a job I've help build and show my family and friends

Tell us about a favourite project you're working on.
I work on building/designing education facilities - its a great sector that I fell into very early in my career for which I am very fortunate. Being able to work on meaningful projects that have a place in the community is very important to me.
