What does a National Business Development Manager actually do? I network and meet with clients to generate new business for our company and provide client solutions for the Facilities Maintenance, fitout, construction and future energy sectors for their buildings and businesses.
What does a day in your life at work look like? Office, client meetings, quotes and tender submissions, phone calls and networking.
What's the best part of your job? My time is flexible. I have a clear strategy plan in place and new leads are exciting. I love seeing where each day will take me.
What made you realise construction could be for you? I have always loved property. My mum and dad built their own home and I watched my mum develop her first unit site with partners when I was 14yrs old. I love all things renovation and architecture.
What would you tell your high school self about working in construction? Construction is for everyone - not just for men. There is so much opportunity out there in so many sectors. Dive in, see what interests you and progress and evolve as you go.
Tell us about your journey starting a family whilst working in construction. I have 2 kids - 8 + 4yrs. It can be a juggle but we use the TimeTree app to help us organise our family life. Build a routine and stick to it!
What are you excited about in terms of sustainability in construction? This is such an evolving sector and one that we are very passionate about at Modus. There are so many ways we can work together for a more sustainable future. Our buildings, our businesses and personally.
